The indigenous community's favorite traditional foods

The indigenous peoples is a part of group of people living throughout Cambodia many centuries ago. They have their own cultures, unique traditions, customs, and have different living styles from other ethnic groups in Cambodia. Indigenous people live a normal life in rural Cambodia, where they have their own unique lifestyles. In, Cambodia, there are twenty two ethnic groups that are living in fifteen provinces, Cambodia. The natural environment can be enjoyed by every visitor to the local community. Besides, visitors may see and eat the local foods in the local region of indigenous groups. There are a few popular traditional foods among indigenous peoples as below:

Prong

Prong is well known in Jarai language, it is called "Nam prong", which means " food" food in a bamboo tube. This type of food discovered in the areas of Mondulkiri and Ratanakkiri provinces, with indigenous adhering to the ancient tradition of cooking using bamboo tubes instead of iron pots or pots. This soup is more ingredients such as vegetables (eggplants, chilis, pakriv, lemongrass root), rice, prahok, salt, soup, beef or pork, bamboo tube, etc. The above ingredients are mixed together and stuffed in a single bamboo tube. After mixed together, we need to burn the bamboo tube and wait estimated 20-30 minutes before eat.

Chanang

Chanang is a kind of soup that have more ingredient as well as vegetables (eggplants, chanang leave, corns, chilis), beef or pork, etc. Chanang is an identity food of indigenous people because it provides special delicious. Chanang is came from Krueng and Tampuon indigenous in Ratanakiri province.

Nam tae

Nam Tae is a local food that every indigenous people usually cook in daily day. In Jarai language, it called “Nam Tae” which Khmer called “Samlor Khap”. This food is often cook for traditional wedding and in another parties.
