Background

 SEA GAMES is a type of sport that is conducted in the region of Southeast Asia. Therefore, it is called SEAP GAMES (South East Asia Peninsular). The game was founded by five countries such as Cambodia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, and Vietnam, and has established on 22 May 1958, the delegate from the countries in the Southeast Asian Peninsula attending the Asian game in Tokyo, Japan, had a meeting and agreed to established a sports organization. According to Wikipedia, the SEAP Games were organized by Luang Sukhum Nayaoradit, then Vice-President of the Thailand Olympic Committee. The main purpose was that a regional sports event will help promote cooperation, understanding, and relations among countries in the Southeast Asian region. The first game was held in Bangkok, the capital of Thailand in 1959. It was the first host of this game. The next, Myanmar was the second host in 1961 and the third time was conduct in 1963, which was planning to host in Cambodia, but the master plan was failed because there were some problems in Cambodia. So, the third game was launch in Kulalampur, the capital of Malaysia in 1965. From 1965 the game was better processing and no need to delay.

 In 1975, it was the season that federation of SEAP GAMES could not control membership. There were only four memberships, which preparing to attend the match of SEAP GAMES. By the way, Thailand is decided to be the eighth host based in Bangkok, Thailand. Seeing the urgent conditions to develop and to engage the member to join, Malaysia has suggested to include another member in Federation of SEAP GAMES. The master plan is to promote the member to participate the game, the more participating is the more types of game.

Since 1977, the federation of SEAP GAMES has admitted the suggestion from Malaysia to include new memberships such as Indonesia, Philippines, and Brunei. During the changing of member, the federation of has changed the name from SEAP GAMES to SEA GAMES, it was conducted in Malaysia and there were seven members as well as Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, Philippine and Brunei. Indonesia is the country won more gold medals. The fifteen games, is hosted in Kolalumpur, Malaysia, and included Vietnam and Loas were absent since 1973. For Cambodia was coming back to participate in 1995, which hosted in Chhiengmai, Thailand.

According to the result of game, Thailand is the country that won more golden modals, the next is Indonesia and Myanmar (Burma).     Following the host selection announcement, Prime Minister Hun Sen approved the final design of the Games, Cambodia will be the hosting the SEA GAMES and ASEAN Para Games in 2023.
